The Uniek Curaçao Foundation is an independent Curaçao volunteer organization and has chosen to work without subsidy and commercial activities (such as entrance fees). The income comes from contributions for the stated goals, donations, and sponsoring/fundraising.
The foundation has a general board that deals with policy matters and representation of the organization. In addition, the foundation has a daily governing board made up of employees who have permanent tasks or manage projects. They supervise trainees and volunteers and manage the daily work in the office and in the field. There is no hierarchy; the person who has the most knowledge about a particular project/part is assigned to coordinate it. The employees are assisted by various experts and advisors.
The foundation functions as an open workplace. Everyone is welcome to participate as a volunteer in the activities of the foundation or in a self-contributed project. Books, reference works, and materials are available for those who are selflessly committed to culture and nature.
